When did you first pick up a coloring book?
The first coloring book that I picked up was October of 2016. I saw a ColorIt ad on Facebook for Cats, Kittens, and Wildcats. As a big cat fan, I HAD to order the book. I was so impressed with the quality that I became a huge ColorIt fan and have all of your coloring supplies and most of your coloring books. I ONLY color in ColorIt books because of the quality.
Describe your perfect coloring atmosphere.
When the weather is just right, I like to color out on my back deck because I have a wonderful view.
Tell us about your creative process when you get ready to color.
Sometimes I look at nature, sometimes it just comes to me, and sometimes I have to cheat and Google it!
How has coloring changed or added to your life?
I suffer from anxiety, depression, and PTSD. When I color I go almost into a meditative state. My mind goes from dark to light as soon as I start to color. Coloring has gotten me out of some very dark times.
What advice would you give someone who isn’t confident about their coloring technique?
I’m not confident about my coloring either! Also, we all start somewhere. I like seeing everyone’s work from novice to the advanced. We do not judge in the ColorIt family.
What’s your favorite ColorIt book? What title would you like to see in the future?
I have almost all of the ColorIt coloring books, and so far I have finished three. My favorite one so far is one that I have finished - Colorful Expressions. That was a really fun book for me to do.
I’d like to see another Blissful Scenes coloring book, Mythical & Fantasy, or another Mandala book.
Is there anything else you want to share about your love of coloring?
I recommend coloring to anyone and everyone as it is fun and is a great stress reliever. I also enjoy the gratification that I get when I finish a page; it makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something.
When did you first pick up a coloring book?
As early as I can remember I had crayons and colored pencils with coloring books. My family is full of artists. Being musicians, singers, writers, and painters. So supplies to feed our creativity was always at hand.
Describe your perfect coloring atmosphere.
Typically I color more towards the end of my day. So I enjoy putting my earbuds in, playing some relaxation melodies or nature sounds. I have all my markers and pencils, and gel pens scattered around me within reach with all my books and I flip through pages until one calls to me at that moment.

I just color the way it comes to me. I will start off by looking at the picture and seeing it as if it was real. How the colors vary and shadowing. Then the color I start with is what just pops into my head and where I want to start. It's hard to explain other than I just color what I feel.
How has coloring changed or added to your life?
I used to do a lot of drawing, painting, and sculpture. But I was never happy with any of my work. My mother and my friends used to get so upset because I would throw away all my work. So I gave up on doing any of that for many years. My mother had gotten sick and was in the hospital, and she asked me to draw her something. I sat for many hours in that room, so I decided why not just for her. I started doing little doodles, and she was hiding them from me (so I wouldn't throw them away). Before I knew it, I was drawing the majority of my time. She suggested for me to color my drawings. I was unsure of that, so her and I started coloring in coloring books. Just like when I was a kid. I found it to be relaxing and melting away the stress from my day. It gave me a chance to not think about "life". Since my mother passed 3 years ago, I have been working on a piece she wanted me to draw for her before she died. When it seems like it's not coming together or looking the way I like, I put it down and grab my books and my color media, and I remember us coloring together and smile and let us have that moment again. It's my meditation.

You will be your toughest critic. You will see and notice every flaw and mistake. But when really there is NO wrong way to color anything!!! Color what your heart tells you to. If you feel the need to color a frog orange, then do it! Just color! Let your creativity go wild and just do what pops into your head! We are all different and so is our creativity, be different, be you!! You can NEVER do it wrong. And never be afraid to try a different media. Whether you are used to markers, try pencils, try pushing hard and light shading, try pens, crayons. Enjoy the different media and the difference in its effect.
What’s your favorite ColorIt book? What title would you like to see in the future?
So far my favorite book is the Colors of Inspiration! I would love to see a book of angels, or Native American culture, or of cars from the beginning until now.
Is there anything else you want to share about your love of coloring?
Coloring is a big part of my life, and thank you for being a big part of my life. It gives me a chance to connect with my mom and gives me the meditation I need to end my day and let go of all the stress. I love your products and switched to pretty much only using your media. So thank you Colorit!
And here are the rest of the winners!
Cynthia Bardwell did an excellent job with this Colors of Nature page.
Deann Ramdath colored this Blissful Scenes page beautifully. It makes us want to run wild with the deer at the lake.
Lindi Hughes made this cheetah from Wild Animals look even calmer, just lounging and observing on top a tree branch.
Rebecca Shock poured all her talent and love to finish this Colors Of Inspiration page. And it turned out lovely.
