December Fan of the Month Contest Winner

The most important thing about ColorIt is that we are a community for all colorists. We love the fact that we have created a space for anyone who loves to color to come and be inspired. There are so many benefits of coloring that we hope to share with as many people as possible.

Our December Fan of the Month, Amber Pearson, is the perfect example of how coloring can positively influence your life. Amber has been coloring for a year and a half but shows no signs of slowing down with this fun hobby! Keep reading to learn more about her coloring journey and the number one reason she loves to color.

When did you first pick up a coloring book?

My coloring journey began while I was pregnant with my now one and a half-year-old daughter Aubriella. Ever since then, I have enjoyed adult coloring books.

Describe your perfect coloring atmosphere.

My perfect coloring atmosphere would have to be a quiet room with my headphones on listening to music.

Tell us about your creative process when you get ready to color.

When I get ready to color, I go to my room and lay out all of my coloring supplies. I like to turn on some soothing music to help me relax and just color.

How has coloring changed or added to your life?

I have severe anxiety and migraines. Coloring is an activity that has helped me a lot. When I am feeling anxious, I color and listen to music. It’s the best way to clear my mind and helps me reach a calming state.

What advice would you give someone who isn't confident about their coloring technique?

Your picture will never look the same as someone else's and that is 100% fine. There is no wrong way to color. The way you perceive a picture or choose your colors will be completely different than someone else and there is nothing wrong with that. Just keep being awesome. Don't give up!

What's your favorite ColorIt book? What title would you like to see in the future?

I don't own a Colorit book yet, but looking at them I love Mythical & Fantasy. I would really love a book full of mermaids — I love mermaids!

Is there anything else you want to share about your love of coloring?

I just want people to know that coloring is a great way to express yourself. Never be afraid to be yourself. Thank you for this opportunity!
