February Fan of the Month Winners
Posted by Lourd Sultan on
February is officially the "love month"... and what better way to show some love than by recognizing our wonderful fans and their beautiful submissions?
Each month, we pick 3 winning entries from a bunch of submissions using a set criteria. The fun doesn't stop there, though. We also pick three more random entries because let's face it: there's just too many good ones out there!
These lucky winners will each receive a $25 ColorIt gift card and will have the chance to double their prize by having their ColorIt Pencils, Markers or Gel Pens in their submission photo. Get to know some of our February fans through our exclusive interviews here:
When did you first pick up a coloring book?
As a child, I remember always having coloring books and art supplies and begging people to color with me. When it started becoming something with books and designs for adults, my heart sang.
Describe your perfect coloring atmosphere?
I love to color just about anywhere. My favorite place is sitting on the floor, listening to a great audiobook. From the floor, I can lay my art supplies out around me and become completely engrossed in my project.
Tell us about your creative process when you get ready to color.
Probably my favorite part of any project is figuring out the colors and how they work together. I'm not afraid to just get in and try something, even if it's a little unconventional. That's how this mandala came to life for me.
How has coloring changed or added to your life?
Coloring is my outlet when life is crazy and I need to reach a calm state. There is something about coloring that (for me) brings me back to a state of happiness and contentment. I have found it fascinating how different life experiences and types of stressor strongly impact which tools I use to color.
What advice would you give someone who isn't confident about their coloring technique?
Don't be afraid of it. You can't do it wrong. There are no grades and no one is judging you. I have many friends who can't get past the first picture because they don't know how to find the "right" color. The answer is to try different, wild, and unconventional ideas to find out what YOU enjoy!
What's your favorite ColorIt book? What title would you like to see in the future?
I honestly can't give you an answer on that. I love working on mandalas, but beautiful scenes and the quilt book are also favorites. I am looking forward to getting the new spiritual themed book. It's much easier to say that, of all 30 or so coloring books I have, the Colorit books are by far my favorite. The designs are amazing, the paper is high-quality, and the chipboard back place your books heads-and-tails above the others.
Lori Busch picked this beautiful page from ColorIt's book "Mandalas Vol. II" as her winning entry for February Fan of the Month.
When did you first pick up a coloring book?
I have always had coloring books, but Adult books since 2015 and Colorit since 2017 only.
Describe your perfect coloring atmosphere.
I color at the dining room table.Chandler over head and hard straight-backed chair.
Tell us about your creative process when you get ready to color.
I look at the pic then decide the medium, and just start.
How has coloring changed or added to your life?
I enjoy the Creativity of doing something different. Keeps me learning new things and growing as a person. Meeting people all over the world.
What advice would you give someone who isn’t confident about their coloring technique?
Keep pushing yourself. Learn from mistakes and enjoy the relaxation.
What’s your favorite ColorIt book? What title would you like to see in the future?
My favorite books are Blissful Scenes and Colorful Christmas
Jeanne Duvall colored this page from her favorite book "Blissful Scenes". Jeanne did a really good job with this one.
Is there anything else you want to share about your love of coloring?
Love trying different mediums and different types of prints and artists. Whether a beginner like me or an Artist...we can all create beauty on our coloring.
When did you first pick up a coloring book?
I picked up coloring about 3 years ago. I have seen a good friend of mine Ashley sharing her coloring pages. So I thought how fun. So that's when I decided to give coloring a try again.
Describe your perfect coloring atmosphere.
My perfect coloring atmosphere would be, in my coloring room. Soft relaxing music and normally I'll have my oils burning.
Tell us about your creative process when you get ready to color.
I can't say I really have a process. I just grab a book and color.
How has coloring changed or added to your life?
Coloring has become a therapy for me. Due to a chronic condition, I have called Reflex Sympthetic Dystrophy. It helped me with mobility with my hands, as well as learning relaxing when my pain starts to climb the charts.
What advice would you give someone who isn't confident about their coloring technique?
I would say just be YOU. There is no right or wrong way to color. Coloring is a form of art. Color how you vision your picture to look and be proud of it. Most of all have fun!
What's your favorite ColorIt book? What title would you like to see in the future?
I'd have to say my favorite is Mythical & Fantasy.
