Posted by ColorIt Support on
At ColorIt, we’re so glad to know that we have lots of wonderful fans who aren’t afraid to celebrate January with a splash of color. And we can’t wait to introduce them to you, along with their awesome submissions.
If you’re new to ColorIt, here’s how our Fan of the Month contest works: every month, we pick three winning art submissions based on a set criteria. To spice things up, we also pick three more entries randomly.
These lucky fans will each receive a $25 ColorIt gift card. What’s more, they’ll also have a chance to double their prize by including their ColorIt pencils, markers, gel pens, or watercolor brush pens in their submission photo.

I first picked up a coloring book 2 years ago.
Describe your perfect coloring atmosphere.
I like to color when it is quiet, but any time is still good.
Tell us about your creative process when you get ready to color.
I like to look at my chosen picture, and imagine it in color, then I do my best to bring it to life.
How has coloring changed or added to your life?
Coloring helps me from being anxious, and helps with my depression.
What advice would you give someone who isn’t confident about their coloring technique?
The advice I would give to anyone that was unsure of coloring is this: Don't let anyone tell you that whatever you want to do isn't good enough. You are You, and you don’t have to live up to anyone's standards but your own.
What’s your favorite ColorIt book? What title would you like to see in the future?
I really have enjoyed the Best of Colorit book that I got last year.
Is there anything else you want to share about your love of coloring?
I was never so glad, as when I discovered Colorit. I love to color again, and the products are very good, and the pictures are wonderful.
When did you first pick up a coloring book?
I started coloring with ColorIt’s books/freebies in November 2017. I ordered the gel pens and the Christmas book--I loved them so much that I asked for the markers and colored pencils for Christmas. I even emailed the links when the items went on sale for the 12 days of Christmas sale in 2017! I was so excited about your products that I was telling my coworkers about them. (My son who goes to the school I work out would make fun of me because I raved so much about your products). I also print the freebie pages for 1 coworker who also works with autistic kids as a second job. She says they love the pictures and do beautiful work on them.
Describe your perfect coloring atmosphere.
My ideal coloring atmosphere is at the table with some kind of background noise like the tv or radio on. Most of the time I end up in my bed with a show on.
Tell us about your creative process when you get ready to color.
I look at the picture and decide what I want it to look like. Not much thought into it to be honest. Once in a while, I get super excited that I can't wait for it to be finished when I envision something.
How has coloring changed or added to your life?
Coloring is a stress reliever for me. It is a way for me to calm myself before bed.
What advice would you give someone who isn’t confident about their coloring technique?
I am not that confident in my coloring techniques but I would say take your time and have patience. As they say practice makes perfect. Watch others color and learn different techniques. I even checked out a ‘how to color with colored pencils’ book from the library. Ask questions on the Facebook group. I have not asked the questions in the group but others have and I find it very informative.
What’s your favorite ColorIt book? What title would you like to see in the future?
My favorite ColorIt book is the Christmas one, followed by the Mandalas.
What would I like to see next? A color by number for those times you just want to color but don't want to think about it. Teddy bears, specific holidays(each holiday its own book), as well as patriotic and bird themes would be great.
Is there anything else you want to share about your love of coloring?
I love to color but do not have a lot of time to do it. Make sure coloring does not replace things in your life. Be in the moment with family and friends. I have 3 kids- 1 in college,1 in 11th grade and the other in 10th grade who play sports. My 11th grader plays travel softball which is a year-round commitment with workouts in the off season to full weekend tournaments once the high school season ends. This is my priority now. Coloring will always be there.
"January Fan Of The Month Winner : Deb Davidson"
When did you first pick up a coloring book?
I was born coloring. When I learned how to create computer graphics about 15 years ago all my creating has been done on computer and I have not drawn or colored by hand in all of that time. I've been coloring again for about a year since picking it back up again.
Describe your perfect coloring atmosphere.
Sitting outside on my screened patio listening to Pink Floyd or Moody Blues with Amazon Alexa.
Tell us about your creative process when you get ready to color.
I have over 100 coloring books so choosing a new picture to work on can be daunting...I want to do them all. LOL. Once I've narrowed the selection down to a couple of books I mark the pages I want to work on with a sticky note then its just a process of elimination.
How has coloring changed or added to your life?
Coloring keeps me creative and my brain active. I love creating a great color on an interesting picture.
What advice would you give someone who isn't confident about their coloring technique?
Practice practice practice. I've been viewing coloring techniques on YouTube. I cannot tell you how much my coloring has improved in the last 4 weeks since I've been doing that. Its a great tool free for your use and will totally make a difference in your coloring.
