Posted by ColorIt Support on
Last month, we held another one of our Fan of the Month contests. If you're not familiar with them, here's how they work: we pick out a special theme for the month and you all send us your beautifully colored in ColorIt pages that fit the theme.
The ColorIt staff picks three winners and the other three winners are randomly selected. These 6 lucky individuals will receive a $25 ColorIt gift card, plus an opportunity to double their prize if their submissions feature any ColorIt coloring medium!
For our October Fan of the Month contest, we wanted to see your spooktacular Halloween-themed submissions. And you guys were certainly up for the challenge! Let's get on to seeing the winning entries that really wowed up. We've also got exclusive interviews from our Fan of the Month winners here:
OCTOBER FAN OF THE MONTH WINNER: AUDREY BONNELL
When did you first pick up a coloring book?
I bought my first adult coloring book in 2016
Describe your perfect coloring atmosphere.
In my living room with or without the TV going. Sometimes I sit at my table but most of the time I sit in my recliner
Tell us about your creative process when you get ready to color.
I look for a page that calls my name out and then I look at it for a while and try to decide what I want to do with it.
How has coloring changed or added to your life?
I love to see the things I turn out. The creative part of me enjoys it so much. I am not able to do the other crafts I liked to do much anymore so coloring takes up the slack. It gives me joy and helps to give me purpose.
What advice would you give someone who isn’t confident about their coloring technique?
Join coloring groups and then look online for coloring how to videos. Do not compare yourself with others and use them as a learning tool.
What’s your favorite ColorIt book?
It used to be Blissful Scenes now it is also Tropical Scenes. Both have such lovely pages to color
What title would you like to see in the future?
Horses maybe another seasons book. One with more Holidays and the lovely seasons.
Is there anything else you want to share about your love of coloring?
I have only been coloring since 2016 and I found Colorit Books are my favorite to color. I now only buy Colorit books as they give me more inspiration than any other company.
OCTOBER FAN OF THE MONTH WINNER: FRANCES PATRICIA MARTINI
When did you first pick up a coloring book?
I first picked up a coloring book when I was a toddler. I loved coloring with my twin sister when we were little girls. I remember loving my Captain Kangaroo coloring book!
Describe your perfect coloring atmosphere.
My perfect coloring atmosphere is depicted in my picture. I color on my lap board with my supplies in easy reach on my corner coffee table in my living room.
Tell us about your creative process when you get ready to color.
I line up my materials, and usually pick my colors before I begin coloring a page. I only pick pictures I love to color!
How has coloring changed or added to your life?
Coloring has definitely added to my life. It is a way to turn off my mind from worrying about things. It’s like entering a calm and peaceful world!
What advice would you give someone who isn’t confident about their coloring technique?
Color because you enjoy it, not because you are in competition with others to see who can do it better. Everyone has their own style.
What’s your favorite ColorIt book?
My favorite Colorit book is Blissful Scenes!💙
What title would you like to see in the future?
I love coloring scenery pictures. A book depicting sceneries would be nice! Colorful Sceneries!!!!
Is there anything else you want to share about your love of coloring?
I have loved coloring all my life. It’s a plus that my husband supports my enthusiasm for my coloring addiction. I have two Granddaughters who also share the love of coloring with me!
OCTOBER FAN OF THE MONTH WINNER: JEAN HUNTER-BROWN
When did you first pick up a coloring book?
I, of course probably like everyone else, first picked up a coloring book when I was an inquisitive little girl. But the real question should be, “when did I first pick up a Colorit coloring book.” So the answer to THAT question is, just this past August, and I haven’t put it down since! Honestly!
Describe your perfect coloring atmosphere.
My perfect atmosphere to color would be, after work, a shower, and in my PJ’s, on the sofa with my Brookshire lap desk my Mother gave me to make it more comfortable when I do what I LOVE. Ahhhhh, SO relaxing!
Tell us about your creative process when you get ready to color.
Sometimes it takes about a good hour to look through the books to decide on which picture to “brighten up, and create.” Depending on my mood, is how I decide whether it will be birds, cats, flowers, or lighthouses to bring to life. Then I look at the “chosen” picture to decide which colors to use for my creation.
How has coloring changed or added to your life?
Coloring has REALLY taught me how to relax. I can color for hours at a time, also when I can’t sleep I get my supplies and start to color. I absolutely love the place it takes me.
What advice would you give someone who isn’t confident about their coloring technique?
My advice to someone who isn’t quite sure on their technique would be, “practice makes perfect” as everyone knows. Try different things that work best for you! Mix, layer, shade, and blend colors! Everyone has their own specialty. There are no mistakes, only masterpieces!
What’s your favorite ColorIt book?
My favorite Colorit Book is “Blissful Scenes.” My next one to order will be “Calming Doodles”, or “Colors of the Ocean.” Oh well, or maybe both!
What title would you like to see in the future?
I would LOVE to see an Interior Design, Fashion, or Homes with pictures inside, and outside of the houses.
Is there anything else you want to share about your love of coloring?
Lastly, I would like to say when I started on this journey of adult coloring, I never in a million years thought I’d be one of your lucky winners. There are SO many “creative” colorist out there, just keep creating, and doing what you love. Life is full of surprises, you never know what tomorrow will bring! Maybe next month it’ll be YOU!
AND HERE ARE THE OTHER WINNERS:
Jack picked the perfect shade of orange for this pumpkin. We also love the little touches of glitter in the picture! ✨
Mary did a wonderful job coloring in this page. The fire and the smoke on the cauldron look so realistic! 😍
Nina's witch is so stylish! We love how she paired her purple dress and cape with gold accessories that match the stars. ⭐
