Homey Log Cabins
Â
Long have we spent perfecting and simplifying our mastery of shelter.
When we hear of log cabins, we think cozy interiors, beautiful fireplaces, and comfort. Now more commonly seen as getaway destinations, log cabins stay true to their humble beginnings. Back in the day, log cabins were built for the sole purpose of providing shelter from the elements.
Â
Log cabins were once popularly seen as a symbol of American patriotism and hard work. Built between 1638 and 1643, Nothnagle Cabin in New Jersey is thought to be the oldest log cabin in North America and was put on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. Tracing back history, the oldest log home was found near Lake Lagoda, Russia, and was built around 800 BC. Staying in a log cabin evokes a sense of nostalgia and wonder.
Â
The ambiance easily puts one in a state of relaxation, as if the natural materials used for the interiors beckon you to put your feet up! Bask in this sense of wonder as you color in this page from ColorIt Blissful Scenes II, weaving stories of life and growing up!
