The Poinsettia Beyond Red

Sounds unbelievable, doesn’t it? Who would climb up a mountain just to make a snowflake mandala the size of three football fields? Well, as it turns out, a man named Simon Beck would.

No flower wears red like poinsettia does. Its bright true red has inspired other nicknames for the plant, like flame-leaf flower and the more hilarious, crustacean themed lobster flower or lobster plant. But, the misunderstood poinsettia has more to offer besides its deep red, sometimes crimson, color.

Poinsettia blooms can be salmon and chartreuse, light pink and pea green, corals, or a pure white. There are even some that come in purple! It all depends on the weather. Still, doesn’t red just stand out?
